Integration of Local Wisdom, Character Education and Problem Based Learning Model in the Innovation of Biology Teaching Material for Senior High School Students in Aceh-Indonesia

In this 21st century, Indonesia is increasingly serious in responding to issues related to the culture, character, and knowledge of students. The solution that could be offered to respond these problems is education. One innovation in education is the innovation of teaching materials. This study aims to determine the validity of integrating local wisdom, character education and the problem based learning (PBL) model in teaching materials. This research is development research adopting the Borg and Gall model. The data in this study were obtained from the results of validation by material experts (six validators), learning model expert (three validators), teacher response (four biology teachers) and student response (12 students) from four senior high schools in Aceh Barat (west aceh). Instruments that be used for data collection in this study were expert validation sheets, teacher response sheets and student response sheets using a scale of 1 to 4. Determination of samples was carried out by using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis techniques used percentage descriptive statistics formula. The results of the study showed that feasibility of biology teaching material that be developed according to material/content experts has an average value of 94.54% (valid) included the integration of local wisdom in teaching material with the score of 93.75% (valid), integration of character education with a value of 95.83% (valid) and integration of PBL models as large as 94.04% (valid). The feasibility of biology learning material according to learning model expert, teachers and students response were valid with the score of 91.67% , 90.41% and 97.5%, respectively.
